After taking voluntary redundancy following a career of 37-years, I wanted to make good use of my free time….
I’d had really positive experiences at St Richard’s Hospital in the past and decided I wanted to give something back. Every day in the charity office is different and I’ve been involved with providing toys for our youngest patients, helping out at community events, collecting and delivering charity collection pots and providing administrative support.
What I enjoy most about volunteering has been working in a very supportive and friendly environment and feeling that I am making a worthwhile contribution to the hospital and our patients.
Having been with Love Your Hospital for more than two years, I’ve learnt how support from the local community helps the charity to improve the patient experience and see firsthand how hospital services can be improved for the local community, including their own family and friends.
Being included in discussions about the charity make me feel like a member of the team and I’m always made to feel welcome and appreciated for the support I provide. I’ve found becoming a volunteer for Love Your Hospital has been incredibly rewarding and enriching.
